Laser Vein Removal

Now men and women alike are making unsightly facial and leg veins a thing of the past. No more painful injections! With the most advanced technology, a unique design, and a longer wavelength, our laser systems can safely and effectively treat both tiny superficial face veins and deeper blue leg veins on men and women of all skin tones.

We treat a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results without bruising or blistering.

What is Laser Vein Removal?

Laser technology offers a very effective means of treating spider veins. The laser has a unique ability to selectively target blood vessels without adversely affecting surrounding tissue. The vessels are gently heated, causing the blood in the vessels to clot. The body reabsorbs the treated blood vessels during the natural healing process.

Will laser therapy work on my veins?

The Cool Glide laser can treat spider veins, reticular veins (deeper blue veins) and facial veins. We offer a complimentary consultation to evaluate and assess and determine if you may need an ultrasound on your veins to determine what treatment would best suit you.

What does it feel like?

Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cold tip on the hand piece helps soothe the skin before and after the laser energy is delivered.

How long will the treatment take?

Treatment time should be 15 to 30 minutes but may vary depending on the number and size of the vessel(s) to be treated.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending upon the severity of the veins, you may require between 1 and 3 laser treatments, spaced at 6 weeks apart. The treatment is performed on the existing blood vessel, diminishing or completely eliminating their appearance. However, any new developing veins cannot be prevented. If your body tends to develop vascular problems, you will probably have to return for further treatments.

What happens to the skin after the treatment?

Patients may experience some temporary redness, swelling or bruising. This is typically gone within a few hours. Others may experience temporary pigment changes in skin color. Since laser treatment does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary.

When can I resume normal activities?

Although we encourage you to resume normal activities almost immediately, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous exercise and avoid hot tubs for at least 24 hours post treatment. Also avoid direct sun exposure after treatment and if you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 Block (not sunscreen). If treating facial veins avoid any irritants to your skin, such as any products containing Retin-A, retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids or astringents for one week before and after your treatment.

How does Vein Therapy work?

Our laser system delivers pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.

Who can be treated?

Our laser system features a unique design and long wavelength that allow them to treat patients of all skin tones. We will advise you if vein therapy is right for you.

What types of veins can be treated?

We can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small, facial veins (or “telangiectasia”) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation will help you determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.

How does this compare to Sclerotherapy?

Many patients prefer vein therapy because there are no painful injections.

What about blood blisters and port wine stains?

Blood blisters or “hemangiomas” respond very well to vein therapy, usually with just one treatment. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have been overwhelmed by the success of their vascular treatments.

How many treatments do I need?

Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, ask your medical professional about your specific condition.

Do the treatments hurt?

Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

What happens after the treatment?

Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment. Patients who have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.

What are the possible side effects?

Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?

Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.

When will I see results?

Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with our laser system.
